PSC Amends CAS Shortlist, Adds Washiali, 15 Others

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has amended its shortlist for the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) job from 224 to 240.

Unlike when it amended its shortlisting during the process of recruiting the current Principal Secretaries, the Commission gave no reason for the additional changes this time.

In a follow-up notice to the original issued on Monday, PSC chairperson Anthony Muchiri said: “This list supersedes the one which was published in the print media on 21st February, 2023.”

The candidates are set to be interviewed from Wednesday, March 1.

Benjamin Washiali, the former Mumias East MP who decided not to run for re-election in the 2022 general election, is one of the new names on the list.

Washiali has served three terms since being elected on an ODM ticket in 2007. He was re-elected on a Jubilee ticket and was a close ally of President William Ruto, which caused him to lose his seat as Majority Whip in the National Assembly in 2020.

Allan Kosgey, who sought the Nandi gubernatorial seat on Ruto’s UDA party last year but lost to Governor Stephen Sang during the party nominations, and former Baringo Speaker Kiplagat David Kipkorir have been named to the shortlist.

Others include former Kibwezi West MP UDA candidate James Kimanthi Mbaluka, former Mandera Senator Mohamed Maalim Mohamud, former Kenyan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mohamud Ali Saleh, Loice Chepchirchir Rono, and former Migori County Assembly Minority Leader Nicholas Ngabiya Rioba.

David Sande Oyolo, Mohammeddin Ibrahim Ibrein and Lucy Mihiuko Muchoki also made it to the list.
