Mohammed Maalim, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner, has assured parents and candidates that no candidate will miss the next national tests owing to insecurity in the region.
The RC promised parents during a peace dialogue conference in the Loruk district of Baringo County that security would be given at the test center to allow candidates to take their exams quietly.
County commissioner Abdirsack Jaldesa said that security measures had been put in place to guarantee that candidates could take their exams peacefully.
Other initiatives, he continued, include providing food and boarding to day scholars in select test centers.
Maalim, who was accompanied by the Rift Valley regional security team, the Baringo County security team, and area political leaders, pledged that no pupil would miss the national examinations owing to insecurity.
Mohammed lamented the recruitment of young children by bandits, claiming that education was the only cure for banditry.
“It is sad that young children are exploited as cattle rustlers instead of attending school, which should not be promoted in this day and age,” he stated.
He also entrusted chiefs with ensuring that all youngsters in their jurisdictions return to school, which would reduce banditry in the region.
