A group of Nairobi residents has officially filed a petition with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) seeking to recall Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Muthoni Passaris.

The petition, submitted on Monday, July 28, was led by activist Shakira Wafula and acknowledged by the IEBC the same day.

The petitioners cited multiple grounds, including violations of the Constitution, abuse of office, neglect of duty, and breach of public trust.

“We, the undersigned citizens and registered voters of Nairobi County, submit this petition per Article 104 of the Constitution of Kenya and Section 45 of the Elections Act, seeking the immediate recall of Hon. Esther Muthoni Passaris,” the document stated.

The petition further accused Passaris of failing to perform her representative and oversight roles with integrity, impartiality, and accountability, claiming she has disrespected the electorate and undermined constitutional principles.

News of the petition sparked widespread support on social media, with many Nairobi residents calling for signatures to support the recall process.
