Racism Concerns As Kenyan Offloaded From Qatar US Flight

A Kenyan family is in distress after a minor was offloaded from a Qatar Airways flight to accommodate a ‘white’ traveller.

The minor, Tim (name hidden) is a 14 year old boy who was headed to Los Angeles for a family reunion.

However as the family was connecting flights at Hamad International Airport- Doha, she was told to either accept economy class tickets, fly back to Kenya or reschedule their flight.

This is despite the fact that the family booked and paid the tickets months ago. The family is stranded in a Doha Hotel, waiting for alternative flight to the US.

The family boarded for Doha, Qatar, from Nairobi on Sunday night. They arrived in Doha at 7am today, only to be confronted with the bad news.

A Qatar manager, identified only as Akjun rudely shoved the family away when they enquired about the anomally.

Uzalendo News contacted the Qatar Airways over the incident, who immediately apologized over the incident, instead urging the family to revisit their help desk for a better explanation.

“We’re truly sorry to learn about the downgrade. If the passengers are at the airport, they may approach a member of our staff for assistance and to clarify what might have happened the resulted in the incident.”
