Quack Doctor Arrested For Allegedly Raping Midwife

The police in Kampala Metropolitan and Nagalama Division are having in custody an 18-year-old Facebook scammer for allegedly luring female job seekers and eventually raping them.

The suspect is identified as Ashraf Lubega from Katosi village in Kisoga sub-county, Mukono district.

Lubega is said to have created a fake identity on Facebook, calling himself Dr. Ronnie of Medical Scrub Uganda, which was advertising medical jobs.

The suspect would then interview the job seekers online through the Medical Scrub Uganda Facebook page before scheduling a meeting with the unsuspecting victims to discuss the terms and conditions.

According to Fred Enanga the police spokesperson, the suspect was doing this basically in Kayunga and Mukono areas.

“The suspect would lure the female victims, briefly interview them and then schedule a meeting to discuss the terms and condition. He would then cause for the transportation of the victims to an isolated and bushy place where he would drug them to the bush and then sexually assault them,” said Enanga.

He notes that the police started following the suspect after an incident that occured on the 11th of March, 2023 involving a midwife from Kireka.

“He interviewed a 24 year old mid wife from Kireka, Kampala and then invited her to Ntunda village in Mukono where he attacked her in a bushy area and then eventually raped her,” said Enanga.

He said the police crime intelligence and flying squad units tracked down the suspect and arrested him. “We established he didn’t have as fixed place of aboard, he was sleeping in lodges and Kayunga and Mukono,” said Enanga

The suspect was established to have lured, robed and raped many unsuspecting members of the public with medical backgrounds and police are expanding their investigations in that area.

The police mouth piece warned young female adults to be extra cautious when transacting business on digital platforms to avoid falling victim of fraud stars.
