A man has been directed to pay a fine of 600,000 Shillings or serve a 4 year jail term after being found guilty of interfering with broadcast signals.
In the case that dates back to an arrest in 2019, Aden Abdullahi Saney was charged with Distributing, Infringing Broadcast Signal channel.
The suspect, was arrested by police officers in conjunction with Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) officers, who recovered sophisticated equipment and satellite dishes that were used in committing the crime.
KECOBO through its hawk-eyed enforcement team, have previously nabbed culprits of the same nature, who have since been convicted.
The agency is mandated to safeguard copyright holders welfare and clamp down on illegal activities affecting related rights.
The Board employs competent prosecutors and copyright inspectors in its legal and enforcement section.
