Chepera River swept off traders at the Chesogon Shopping Centre. The number of people missing or dead could not be established.

Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen said several people had climbed on tall trees to avoid being swept by the floods.

Thd incident occurred at 6.30pm on Saturday 18th of April. Efforts to rescue any survivors were hampered by the darkness.

Murkomen appealed to the interior ministry to mobilise and evacuate those marooned by the floods and also recover bodies of the dead.

“The residents of Chesogon only priority is to know the fate of their loved ones. They care less about Covid 19 and the curfew for now”, Murkomen said on phone.
