Raila Odinga, Azimio Leader, has urged the church to join the opposition’s push to open the IEBC servers.
Raila issued a statement on Saturday criticizing the Conference of Catholic Bishops for calling the push unnecessary.
”We also disagree with the characterization of our push for IEBC server auditing as unnecessary,” Azimio’s leader said.
The ODM leader stated that the push for a forensic audit is guided by a core Christian doctrine: belief in the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
”In this regard, and as we have stated before, we are guided by John 8:32 – ”Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free,” he said.
Saying that Azimio is curious and concerned about the sensitivities surrounding the IEBC servers, Raila said the orders of the Supreme Court were disregarded.
”During the hearing of the presidential election petition last year, the Supreme Court ordered that the servers opened for our scrutiny, only for the same court to ignore its own order and, in the final ruling, disregard the fact the servers were not opened,” he said.
Raila said the opposition prays that the church joins Kenyans in seeking to establish the truth about last year’s elections by having the servers scrutinized in the best interests of the nation.
