The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has now stated that it was satisfied with Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s academic qualifications before clearing him.
In an interview with NTV, the commission’s CEO Hussein Marjan stated that IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati reviewed Raila’s academic documents and was satisfied with them.
“By the time Chebukati was clearing him (Raila) he had certified that the candidate had met all the requirements. Raila Odinga met the requirements,” Hussein said.
The clarification comes after UDA Secretary-general Veronica Maina called for an investigation into the former prime minister’s academic credentials.
“You have seen a lot of headlines questioning the university that our biggest opponent, Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, qualified from,” Maina was quoted by Citizen TV.
