Raila: I Was not Intimidated Over Jamhuri Day rally

He stated that he was invited to the country as the African Union Special Representative by US President Joe Biden.

Raila Odinga, leader of Azimio la Umoja, has cancelled a parallel rally scheduled for Jamhuri Day on December 12 because he is traveling to the United States, adding that he has not been threatened by anyone.

Speaking at the conclusion of the three-day Jumuiya Agribusiness and Blue Economy Investment meeting in Tana River County on Friday, Mr Odinga dismissed claims that he was intimidated by the government into canceling a parallel rally scheduled for Monday next week at Kamkunji Grounds in Nairobi.

He stated that he was invited to the country as the African Union Special Representative by US President Joe Biden.

“The meeting scheduled for next week has been canceled because I will not be present, not because we are afraid of anyone. I want Kenyans to understand that I am not intimidated and that I have nothing to fear because we won the elections “He stated.

Further, he continued: “We had a plan for this country, but the devil got in the way. But we must remain hopeful because the God in whom we believe will intervene “

He reiterated that he will be one of 46 officials invited to discuss Africa-US relations.

He stated that as the AU Representative for Infrastructure Development, he will ensure that the infrastructure of the coast region is opened up to the East African region in order to boost its economy.

He also urged investors interested in the region’s blue economy to invest in cold storage plants and dock fishing ship lines.
