Raila: Kisumu Police Officer Who Was Run Over Was My Grandson

Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio movement, has claimed that the police officer who was killed by a police car during protests in Kisumu was his grandson.

While addressing his supporters on Thursday at Ufangamano House, Raila claimed that he was the one who recruited Ben Oduor to the police force.

“That young man who was knocked in Kisumu by a police vehicle is my grandson, his mother is my niece,” Raila said.

Raila accused police of framing innocent people in murder cases.

Azimio’s leader stated that Azimio lawyers are working on cases of police brutality during Azimio demonstrations.

Oduor’s death caused public outrage after a post-mortem report contradicted the police report.

Witnesses told police that the deceased was run over by a police vehicle as they fled the angry protestors.

Police had earlier reported that he was hit to death with a stone on the chest while managing the Kisumu demonstrators.

A postmortem report obtained by NTV from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital appeared to corroborate the witness count, as it showed the deceased had no injuries to the chest.

According to the report, the officer’s hip was completely broken and his leg was shattered.

According to NTV, a family member revealed to them that the deceased’s phone, which was in his pocket, was also broken and shattered.

Thus raising questions about how a single stone said to have struck him broke his leg, hip borne, and phone in his pocket.
