According to a new Tifa opinion poll, Raila Odinga of Azimio la Umoja is the most preferred presidential candidate with 46.7 percent, followed by Kenya Kwanza’s William Ruto with 44.6 percent.
George Wajackoya of the Roots Party is third with about 1.8 percent, and Waihiga Mwaure of the Agano Party is fourth with 0.1 percent.
According to the poll, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) remains the most popular political party in the country, followed by ODM, Jubilee, Wiper, and Roots Party.
Tifa stated that since their last survey, support for Raila has increased in all nine regions except the Central Rift.
“Compared to the results from Tifa’s June survey, the distribution of expressed voting intentions for Odinga has changed somewhat across the country in that he has gained in all the nine zones apart from Central Rift (-5%), his biggest gains being in South Rift, Nyanza, Western and Lower Eastern. (+15%, 13%, +13 and +12% respectively)” Tifa said.
Support for Ruto has increased in six of the nine zones since Tifa’s last survey in June, particularly in his “home” zone.
“Over the last two years, DP Ruto’s presidential candidate popularity has remained within a very narrow range.”
The poll had a margin of error of +/- 2.16 and was conducted between July 21 and July 26 with 2,056 respondents from 9 regions across the country.
The regions are Central Rift, Coast, Lower Eastern, Mt Kenya, Nairobi, Northern, Nyanza, South Rift, and Western.
Face-to-face interviews with households were used to collect data.
