Kenya’s candidate for the upcoming African Union Commission (AUC) Chairmanship election Raila Odinga on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, visited Namibia to seek for support in his bid to succeed the outgoing Moussa Faki.
In a statement shared via his official social media accounts, Raila revealed that he had been hosted by the fourth Namibian president Nangolo Mbumba at State House in Windhoek.
The former Prime Minister further stated that they used the opportunity to discuss their agenda for Africa, and his AUC Chairmanship candidature.
“We thank H.E President Dr Nangolo Mbumba @DrNangoloMbumba of Namibia for hosting us at Statehouse in Windhoek. We used the opportunity discuss our African Agenda and my African Union Chairmanship candidature,” Raila stated.
Raila in Zimbabwe
Raila’s visit to Namibia comes two days after he flew to Harare, Zimbabwe to meet the country’s president Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Raila in a statement shared via his official X account on Monday, January 13, said that he had shared with the Zimbabwean president his vision for Africa on top of discussing his candidature for the AUC chairmanship.
“We landed in Harare, Zimbabwe today to a warm reception courtesy of H.E President Emmerson Mnangagwa @edmnangagwa It’s been a pleasure sharing with the president my vision for Africa and discussing my candidature for the AUC Chairmanship,” Raila wrote on X.
The AUC elections will take place in February 2025 during the African Union Summit.
