Raila Odinga, the opposition leader and Azimio Coalition head, has once again snubbed Madaraka Day celebrations.
Since Hon. Raila lost the 2022 General Elections, he has not attended any national celebrations; Jamhuri Day in December 2022, and this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations at Moi Stadium in Embu.
Raila Odinga has declined to acknowledge the Ruto presidency, nearly 8 months after the General Elections.
The Opposition leader resorted to challenging the election through Supreme Court, but his petition was thrown out.
Azimio then resorted to weekly protests which threatened to destabilize Nairobi and Kisumu CBD economies.
However, President Ruto reached out to Raila, to consider a bipartisan team to address his grievances. The talks have since hit a wall.
