Raila Odinga, the Presidential Candidate of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition, announced interviews for aspirants to be his running mate in the August 9 General Election.
The interviews will take place between May 4 and May 10, according to a statement issued by the Running Mate Selection Panel Secretary, Elizabeth Meyo.
The interested parties had already submitted their names to the panel for consideration, according to Meyo.
“We would like to inform Kenyans that the process of vetting and ultimately selecting the best candidate has begun.”
The selection panel will meet with all eminent Kenyans being considered for this important position of service on various days between May 4 and 10, according to the statement.
Meyo, who also serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Odinga’s campaign board, stated that the panel will present the former Prime Minister with the name of its most suitable candidate by May 10.
She also emphasized that the candidates must meet all of the panel’s criteria, including the qualifications for running for deputy president as outlined in the constitution. They must also have a track record of public service and leadership.
