Raila Promises Leather Factory In Narok

Raila stated that many unemployed youth will be gainfully employed in industries, boosting the region's economy.

Raila Odinga, the Azimio presidential candidate, toured Narok on Monday, promising to build a leather factory in the area.

The former Prime Minister stated that he will ensure that the region, which is primarily comprised of pastoralists, benefits from their livestock.

“You are lucky to have livestock, but they are sold at a throwaway price and the farmer gets nothing in return. We want to bring the industry here where we will slaughter the animals and sell the meat in Nairobi and some to external markets,” Raila said.

Raila stated that many unemployed youth will be gainfully employed in industries, boosting the region’s economy.

Speaking in Narok West, the ODM leader announced the establishment of a leather factory as part of the one-county-one-industry initiative to ensure that the region reaps high profits from livestock farming.

Raila also promised to improve the region’s road networks, paving the way for a massive economic boom.

He reiterated his commitment to implementing Baba Care and providing free education from nursery school to university within his first 100 days in office.

Raila was accompanied by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Senator Ledama ole Kina, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu, Moitalel ole Kenta (Narok North MP), former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, Murang’a Woman Rep Sabina Chege, Junet Mohamed (Suna East MP), and Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja MP).

Kalonzo rallied the Maa community to support the Azimio candidate, claiming that the region would benefit from Azimio’s administration.

He stated that the Masaai community has been marginalized for many years and cannot afford to be outside the government.

“The winner of the August 9 elections is clear and he will be Raila. We must think deeply as Kenyans and weigh the two sides, especially what they stand for,” Kalonzo said.

Raila is up against Deputy President William Ruto, George Wajackoya of the Roots Party, and David Waihiga of Agano in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The ODM leader is running for president for the fifth time.

Kenta urged the Maa community to back Raila in his State House campaign.

The ODM Narok gubernatorial candidate stated that if Raila is elected, the community will benefit greatly in terms of development.
