Raila Rally Turns Ugly As Irate Youth Storm Venue

ODM leader Raila Odinga was forced to cut short his Iten rally after irate youth invaded the venue and pelted stones at his crowd.

Raila’s campaign rally was cut short after the heckling youth pelted stones at the group that had gathered.

Pictures showing extensive damage to the former Prime Minister’s motorcade, including his chopper have since gone viral on social media.

Raila began his visit to Deputy President William Ruto’s North Rift backyard by holding an inside meeting at Iten Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) before speaking to a crowd in the town centre.

He was introduced to a roadside gathering by the area governor, Alex Tolgos, but locals began chanting ‘United Democratic Alliance (UDA)’.

Police attempts to calm them down were ineffective, as the youth refused to let the Azimio presidential candidate finish his address.

Kipkorir Menjo, the ODM’s regional point man and one of the organizers of the Raila demonstration, denounced the incident and urged Rift Valley inhabitants to be patient.

Raila was accompanied by a number of leaders, including Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and his Embakasi East counterpart Babu Owino.
