Raila Odinga, the leader of Azimio, has slammed police Inspector General Japheth Koome over allegations that the opposition hired dead bodies to represent victims of police brutality.
Raila stated that the bodies in question had gunshot wounds and dead certificates to prove the cause of death.
“I am very disappointed to see a statement from Inspector General Police Mr. Koome saying that we hired dead bodies to accuse police of brutality. I do not know which world he lives in. The bodies which were buried had bullet wounds in them. The death certificates also confirm the cause of death. These are people killed by goons masquerading as police officers,” Raila responded.
He asserted that he will not rest until the perpetrators pay.
This comes just a few hours after Police Inspector General Japheth Koome made claims senior society members have been parading bodies to implicate police officers as being behind the killings.
“How can these people be leaders of the society? As police, we have the role of protecting lives and property. The propaganda will not dishearten us,” Koome claimed.
At the same presser, IG Koome also called out Azimio over their plan to file a police brutality lawsuit at the International Criminal Court (ICC) claiming that the move is aimed at demoralising police officers.
