Raila Odinga, former Prime Minister and leader of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya, has chastised defectors who joined the ruling government after the August 9 presidential elections.
Raila stated in Kisumu County that the coalition party should have remained united because it was critical to ensuring good governance.
He characterized the move as a political betrayal, pointing out that the national government was required to allocate resources to county governments through devolution.
“The government of Kenya is divided into two; the national and county governments and the latter gets direct allocation from the national government, not because they love you but because they have to give it to you,” Raila stated.
Raila also stated that he will reveal the reason for his loss in the presidential election and announce his next political move in due time.
“I want to inform you that my time for talking has not yet come but once it does, I will not look back. If our people join hands, we will be united and we cannot be intimidated to join the government,” he noted.
Siaya Governor James Orengo criticized the ruling administration for promising to reduce the cost of living in its first 100 days.
“The presidency of Raila Amolo Odinga is not a matter of five years or is not a matter of ten years, that is a presidency that we have now if we stand firm and say that in God’s name all is possible,” Orengo stated.
Azimio leader Kalonzo Musyoka recently hinted at the formation of a shadow Cabinet to provide oversight to the current government.
