Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio party, will issue a brief statement on Monday in response to claims made by a whistleblower that the presidential election on August 9, 2022, was rigged.
His spokesman, Dennis Onyango, said Raila will make the announcement upon his arrival from South Africa at a rally in Nairobi’s Kamkunji Grounds.
Raila is expected to arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 11 a.m., according to Onyango, and then proceed to Kamkunji for the People’s Baraza.
Onyango stated that the Azimio leader will address his supporters following the release of a damning report by a whistleblower on the alleged manipulation of the August 9 elections results.
The Azimio leader urged Kenyans to attend the Kamukunji meeting in large numbers “in the interest of the country.”
Jeremiah Kioni, secretary general of the Jubilee Party, revealed the contentious report on Wednesday.
Kioni promised Raila would provide a detailed statement upon his return.
According to the dossier, Raila received 8,170,355 votes, or 57.53 percent of the votes cast, compared to President William Ruto’s 5,915,973 votes (41.66 percent of votes cast).
