Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is expected to attend the funeral of prominent Eldoret businessman Jackson Kibor on Friday at his Samitui Farm in Kabenes Uasin Gishu County.
Mr Kibor, who is famously referred to as the men’s conference chairman by his Kenyan fans died after a long illness at St. Luke’s Hospital in Eldoret aged 88 on March 16, 2022.
According to his relatives, he was diagnosed with kidney failure and was on dialysis until his death.
Kibor will be buried next to his first wife Mama Mary, according to his wishes.
Kibor was Raila’s greatest ally in 2007 and was even referenced in the ICC case confronting DP William Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
However, on Wednesday, three people, a lady, and two men, filed a lawsuit in court to prevent his burial, demanding to be recognized as his children.
They want a court order that DNA samples be taken from the body and analyzed and compared to determine paternity.
According to Dennis Onsarigo, the press secretary at Raila Odinga’s 2022 presidential campaign secretariat, the ODM leader will attend the burial and thereafter address the mourners before holding rallies in the North Rift over the weekend.
The Azimio la Umoja Movement leader is expected to hold his presidential rallies in Turkana, Baringo and parts of Trans Nzoia to drum up support for his presidential bid.
This will be the first time the ODM leader will be visiting Ruto’s Rift Valley turf after he was crowned the Azimio presidential flagbearer.
