Raila Tours Kitui Amid Standoff In Governor’s Race

Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga will continue with his tour of the Ukambani region with a visit to Kitui County.

The former prime minister will be accompanied by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu, among other regional leaders.

Raila’s visit comes at a time when Kitui County is gripped by political fever, with former Governor Julius Malombe of the Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Party declaring interest in the governorship in 2022.

The race for Kitui governor’s seat has seen four aspirants lining up to dethrone Charity Ngilu who is seeking a second term on her NARC Party ticket while Malombe is making his second attempt on Wiper ticket after losing in 2017.

The race is promising to be a titanic battle with the entry of former Senator David Musila and former Nairobi Deputy Governor Jonathan Mweke (UDA).

On Tuesday, Raila campaigned in Makueni County where he promised to bring water in the Ukambani region if elected in the August 9, general election.
