Raila,Karua Set To Pitch Tent In Kisii

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his deputy Martha Karua will on Monday pitch tent in Kisii as he seeks to ring-fence a voting bloc that has consistently supported his previous bids.

The move is part of their efforts to ensure that they succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August 9 general election by securing a majority of the 600,000 votes in the county and denying their opponent, William Ruto of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), any significant votes.

The two will first attend a funeral service in the South Mugirango sub-county before holding a series of rallies across the county.

According to a statement issued by John Mbadi, the chairman of the Presidential Campaign Board in Nyanza region, Raila, who will hold the two rallies in Nyamarambe and Chitago in South Mugirango constituency on Monday afternoon, will also take the  opportunity to launch Kisii County Government projects.

Among the projects he will launch are the Nduru hospital, which has been upgraded to a Level four facility and the Nyangweta Sugar Factory.

The visit comes amid fears failure to address disagreements among Azimio candidates for various seats could hurt Raila’s support.

The Azimio team and the Kenya Kwanza team, the two most likely coalitions to form the next government following the August 9 general election, have divided their teams into regions in an effort to increase their presence across the country.

On Sunday, Raila took his campaigns to Machakos County, where he was hosted by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Nzioka Waita among other leaders while Karua took the Azimio campaigns to Deputy President William Ruto’s Eldoret home.
