Raila’s Bodyguard Found Dumped Along Kangundo Road

According to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Communications Director Phillip Etale, Ogeta was dumped in Ruai minutes after 1 am on Saturday, July 21.

Following High Court’s order that probably shook abductors to the core, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s bodyguard, Maurice Ogeta, was reportedly found dumped along Kangundo Road after going missing for more than two days.

According to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Communications Director Phillip Etale, Ogeta was dumped in Ruai minutes after 1 am on Saturday, July 21.

Raila’s aide was reportedly blindfolded and unaware of his surroundings when he was dropped off on the highway.

“A few minutes before 1:00 a.m., Ogeta was released from police custody and driven blindfolded down the road in Ruai towards Kangundo.”

“His car has been vandalized.” “However, he is grateful to be alive,” he stated.

Etale went on to say that Ogeta was also shaken by the incident, expressing that he was still distraught and in shock.

The release of Raila’s bodyguard came hours after High Court Judge Lawrence Mugambi directed Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome to produce the security officer before a court of law.

Mugambi indicated that the directive would enable the family and the court to determine the reasons for his detention.

“Pending the hearing and determination of this application inter-parties, a writ of habeas corpus is hereby issued directing the 2nd Respondent (Koome ) to produce Maurice Ogeta before a court of competent jurisdiction in Nairobi or any other Court within the Republic of Kenya for an inquiry into the issue of his detention,” the Court directed

The directive was issued after Ogeta’s family filed an urgent motion in court as they sought to know his whereabouts.

Ogeta was arrested on Wednesday morning, July 19, while on his way to work ahead of the nationwide protests led by the opposition.
