A man has been charged at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi over the alleged theft of grills belonging to Kenya Railways Corporation.

The accused, Josphat Kamau Chege, was arraigned before court and charged with stealing contrary to Section 268(1) as read with Section 275 of the Penal Code.

According to the charge sheet, the offence is alleged to have been committed on January 4, 2026, at around 3:00 p.m., at a Kenya Railways workshop within Nairobi County.

The prosecution claims that Chege stole a radiator grill for a locomotive engine, valued at KSh 405,666, property belonging to Kenya Railways Corporation.

Court records indicate that the accused was arrested on January 5, 2026, and later presented in court.

The prosecution listed several witnesses in the matter, including officers attached to Kenya Railways and other individuals.

He pleaded guilty to the charge and begged to court to forgive him.

He further testified that he thought the grills were not in use and he could take them to remedy the challenges he was facing.

The court directed that the case be mentioned on January 8 for further directions.
