South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has ordered the immediate arrest of Jozi FM radio presenter Penny Ntuli and her friend after a video surfaced showing the pair twerking on the side of a busy highway.
According to the president, the act posed a dangerous distraction to motorists and put both road users and the women themselves at serious risk.
The viral footage, which quickly sparked nationwide debate, shows Ntuli dancing along the roadside, drawing criticism from safety advocates who warn that such stunts can contribute to accidents.
Authorities note that pedestrian deaths already account for 35–40% of road fatalities in South Africa, with distracted driving being a leading factor in crashes.
Ramaphosa’s stern response underscores the government’s growing concerns over reckless public behavior and road safety.
