Brazilian winger Raphinha has been crowned La Liga’s Player of the Year after a stellar season that saw him play a pivotal role in Barcelona’s domestic double triumph.

The 28-year-old attacker, now in his third season at the Catalan club after his 2022 move from Leeds United, delivered an outstanding campaign with 18 goals and nine assists. Known for his explosive pace, sharp dribbling, and relentless defensive work, Raphinha became a consistent game-changer on the right wing.

His performances were even more remarkable considering he was reportedly close to leaving Camp Nou last summer. Instead, newly appointed head coach Hansi Flick made a bold decision — naming Raphinha team captain and offering him a contract extension through July 2028.

“Raphinha’s leadership on and off the pitch was vital this season,” said Flick. “He set the tone for our pressing game and was a constant threat going forward.”

Adding to Barcelona’s accolades, 17-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal received the league’s Under-23 Player of the Year award. The teenage forward, who has broken multiple age-related records this season, is widely seen as one of the brightest young talents in world football.

With Barcelona returning to dominance in Spain, these individual honours cap a memorable season for both Raphinha and the club’s new generation of stars.
