Kenya’s COVID-19 cases have risen by 552 in the last 24 hours raising the total caseload to 93,405. – By Gerald Gekara.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe through a press statement, said the cases were from 7,013 samples tested in the same period.
Total samples tested so far have risen to 991,448.
In terms of gender, 346 of the cases were male and 206 were female. The youngest case was a one-year-old and the oldest was aged 93.
However, from the cases, 529 are Kenyans while 23 are foreigners.
The cases were distributed as follows; Nairobi (222), Mombasa (46), Lamu (25), Nakuru (23), Taita Taveta (21), Kilifi (21), Nyeri (18), Kiambu (14), Turkana (13), Siaya (13), Embu (12), Kakamega (11), Murang’a (9), Laikipia (9), Machakos (8), Kitui (7), Bungoma (5), Kisumu (5), Kwale (4), Garissa, and Vihiga recorded (4) cases each.
Other cases were reported in; Kericho, Narok, Bomet and Meru recorded (3) cases each, while Makueni, Baringo, Kisii, and Marsabit (2) cases each.
Tana River, Kajiado, Nyamira, Kirinyaga and Mandera each had (1) case each.
However, 596 patients are reported to have recovered from the disease with 484 discharged from home-based care and 112 from the hospital. So far the number of recoveries rose to 74,999.
Four more patients succumbed to the disease raising the total number of deaths to 1,618.
