Regulatory Bodies Overhauled to Boost Service and Efficiency

The government has launched a comprehensive reform of state regulatory bodies to improve service delivery, raise standards, and reduce waste.

Speaking at the conference, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi stated that regulatory authorities play an important role in guaranteeing the effective operation of state entities.

Mudavadi stated that overlapping functions have rendered several agencies superfluous, but that the situation may be salvaged if appropriate policy interventions to consolidate their functions were implemented.

Mudavadi stated that the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, highlighted the entire regulatory sector in our economy as an area that requires special attention to promote efficiency, safe service delivery, cost-effectiveness, and the safety of Kenyans.

He noted that Koskei took the initiative to organize the comprehensive meeting, which included all of the country’s regulatory bodies and organizations, a total of around 78 entities.

According to Mudavadi, the strategic move emphasizes the importance of regulators facilitating public transactions rather than obstructing them.

He stated that they have focused on raising awareness and educating stakeholders about why firms must comply with duties to county governments, NEMA, and other regulatory organizations.

Businesses must grasp the need of complying with those bodies’ regulatory obligations in order to meet environmental sustainability, public health, and safety standards.
