As the Nyayo Footbridge nears completion, Kenyans, particularly those living along Langata Road, would benefit greatly.
The footbridge, erected by the TMall overpass contractor, CENTUNION, is located near the Nyayo Stadium Roundabout.
The footbridge will assist to alleviate traffic congestion and accidents at the crossing channel, as well as provide residents with easy access to the other side.
“This bridge will benefit us as businesspeople since the number of people who will use it will increase. When it is finished and the iron sheet is removed, many people will see us and come to buy our goods,” one of the residents said.
Another resident added that the project will establish the shortest route between Nairobi and Nairobi West residents thus reducing the distance and lowering the time spent waiting for traffic to clear.
A matatu driver also thanked the government for finding it necessary to built the footbridge as there were no zebra crossing on the road and therefore it will bring ease and progress.

“Vehicles speed up at times, and we have celebrations and games at other times, so it will assist people in crossing the road without causing a traffic jam,” a boda boda rider added.
