Kenya has recorded 11 new cases of Coronavirus raising the tally to 374.
The 11 cases confirmed by Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman emerged out of 589 samples and includes 2 children aged 3years and a 75 year old.
7 are from Nairobi; 4 from Kawangware and the rest spread out in Eastleigh and Kaloleni while 4 are from Mombasa in Kibokoni area.
Health CAS Rashid Aman, confirmed 10 more recoveries raising the total number of to 124.
Nairobi and Mombasa have accounted for 90% of the cases in the country urging residents to be extra careful not to contact the disease. The CAS has reiterated that opening of restaurants does not include pubs.
“Pubs remain closed, only eateries will be reopened while following guidelines by the Ministry of Health,” he said
The move to open restaurants has raised a debate industry stakeholders and members of the clergy who are now want the government to also consider opening churches.
However, Aman said the ministry is working on developing guidelines to see which other areas can be reopened without endangering people’s lives.
Yesterday CS Health Mutahi Kagwe said restaurants will be reopened but only those who follow guidelines will be allowed to remain open. This will include testing of employees and inspection by the ministry to ensure the set guidelines are met.
