Rift Valley Senator Loses Ksh 200,000 to Kitui Conman in Embarrassing Road Racket

In what is being whispered through political corridors as one of the most humiliating blunders of the season, a prominent senator from the Rift Valley has become the latest high-profile victim of a cunning Kitui-based conman — and the story is as jaw-dropping as it is embarrassing.

Sources close to the investigation have revealed that the senator, often heard boasting about his years in the U.S. was conned out of KSh 200,000 in one of the most humiliating swindles to hit a high-ranking official in recent memory.

It all began at a Nairobi hotel. The unsuspecting senator was overheard by the smooth-talking trickster casually discussing the lack of access roads to his property due to an upright contractor.

The conman, who had blended in seamlessly with the crowd, reportedly eavesdropped with precision and pounced with the confidence of a seasoned hustler.

According to insiders, the conman coolly approached the senator outside the venue, introduced himself as an “influencer” in the roads department, and confessed to overhearing the senator’s concerns.

But rather than apologise for the intrusion, the stranger made the senator an offer he seemingly couldn’t refuse: a fast-tracked deal to have the contractor tarmac up to his gates.

The Senator then paid a “modest” KSh 200,000 to “mobilize contractors” and grease the bureaucratic wheels.

Barely questioning the legitimacy of the operation and perhaps blinded by the dream of a ribbon-cutting ceremony on his home turf, the senator promptly wired the cash to the man’s mobile account.

What followed was a masterclass in old-school Nairobi con artistry. The fraudster ducked into the nearest MPESA shop, cashed out the funds, switched off his phones, and vanished, leaving the senator reeling in disbelief.

Shaken, the senator contacted the police, who immediately launched a manhunt for the mysterious road “fixer.”

Detectives are said to be grilling the conman to give up some of his accomplices.

The incident has sparked hushed laughter and raised eyebrows in parliamentary circles, with several lawmakers reportedly teasing their colleague in closed-door meetings.
