Rigathi Gachagua Tells Ruto: ‘Talk to Me if You Want Kalonzo’

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has declared himself the political bridge between President William Ruto and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, insisting that any outreach to the Kamba leader must go through him.

Speaking on Saturday during a service at Calvary Christian Tabernacle Church in Mutituni, Machakos County, Gachagua said he had been chosen as spokesperson for the Gikuyu, Embu, Meru, and Akamba (GEMA) communities.

“You keep sending people to look for Kalonzo. Please, if you want Kalonzo, talk to me,” he said. “I have been told, for the time being, I’m the family’s spokesperson. So, if you want to talk to Kalonzo, don’t look for brokers. look for me.”

Gachagua described the GEMA and Kamba communities as “one family” that has resolved to chart its political course together. He accused ODM leader Raila Odinga of exploiting Kalonzo and the Kamba nation for 15 years and told Ruto to “keep off family matters.”

“Kenya Kwanza has misused me and Mt Kenya badly. Raila misused Kalonzo. Now those who were misused are united,” he said.

The former Deputy President also reflected on his past in Machakos, recalling working as an untrained teacher in Kwanthanze in 1984 for Sh1,230 a month.
