Kenya’s Covid-19 spiked to 13,353 on Sunday, July 19, after 603 people were confirmed to have tested positive – By Gerald Gekara.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health CS Mutahi Kagwe confirmed the figures to be the highest daily tally of cases since March 23.
The cases were discovered out of 5,724 samples tested, raising the total figure of 243,887 of tests so far.
Nairobi led with (441) cases; Kiambu (44), Mombasa (22), Nakuru (17), Kilifi (10), Machakos, and Kisii (6), Makueni (5), Murang’a (3), Nyeri (2), while Kakamega, Kericho, Kisumu, Kwale, Lamu, narok, Tharaka Nithi, and Uasin Gishu each had (1) case.
CS Kagwe further noted that 361 of the new cases were male with 242 being female. The youngest was a seven-month-old infant, while the oldest was an 86-year-old.
However, 682 people were discharged bringing the total number of recoveries to 5,122
However, the death toll rose to 234, after 9 more patients succumbed to the virus.
