A middle aged man has been mauled to death by a pack of hyenas at Athi village in Juja, Kiambu County.
According to reports, at around 1:00 p.m. on Thursday night, Robert Mwangi, 35, was heard screaming for help, but his neighbors were unable to save him from the crackle of about eight dangerous hyenas.
Area Chief Sarah Wanjiku confirmed the incident, saying the family was informed of the attack and Mwangi’s body was transferred to Thika’s General Kago Morgue.
“He was heard screaming but the family could not help as the deadly animals had already attacked,” said the chief.
Late last year, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) issued a warning to residents of Juja and Thika about marauding animals that were causing deadly attacks on residents.
