Rob Reiner’s Family Breaks Silence as Son Nick Appears on Murder Charges

Rob Reiner's Children Break Silence After Parents' Deaths, Brother's Arrest

The children of slain Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, have spoken publicly for the first time following their parents’ deaths and the arrest of their brother, Nick, who now faces murder charges.

In a statement provided to CBS News on Wednesday, Jake and Romy Reiner described grappling with “unimaginable pain” after the “horrific and devastating loss.”

“The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience,” they said. “They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”

The siblings expressed gratitude for the “outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support” received from “people from all walks of life.” They did not address the allegations against their brother directly and asked for privacy, requesting that their parents “be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave.”

Their brother, Nick Reiner, 32, appeared in court for the first time Wednesday, waiving his right to enter a plea to two counts of first-degree murder. He was taken into custody Sunday night after his parents were found dead in their Los Angeles home. The medical examiner confirmed Wednesday that both died from homicide by multiple sharp force injuries.

Family representatives did not immediately respond to the BBC’s request for further comment.
