Nairobi Area traffic controller Joshua Omukata has lamented the sharp increase in road accidents involving pedestrians and motorcycles.
He chastised motorcyclists for their flagrant contempt for the law, stating that a crackdown will arrest rogue operators who do not comply with road safety.
Operators of PSVs have been warned about overlapping, in light of the incident where a Ngong-bound matatu veered off the road and crashed.
According to Omukata, 48 individuals have died in traffic-related accidents in Nairobi in the last month, including 32 pedestrians and 12 motorcyclists.
It was also discovered that the victims of fatal collisions did not use the marked crossing points, nor observe laid out rules for pedestrians.
He warns that unless more stringent steps are taken to combat the vice, the number could rise.
