Ongata Rongai police arrested a murder suspect, accused of murdering her partner, 47, on Saturday night.
According to a police report, the dead, Kennedy Bitonye Oyatsi, a driver at the Kenya School of Law, is thought to have been murdered in cold blood by his girlfriend Jacklyn Zakayo, 27, following a dispute over an unspecified topic.
Neighbours of the dead allege that on Saturday night, a ruckus and loud cries emerging from the couple’s rented property drove them to rush to the site to assist.
When they arrived, they discovered blood splatters on the floor of the residence, as well as what is believed to be the murder weapon—a broken kitchen knife.
Well-wishers’ attempts to take Oyatsi to the neighbouring Sinai hospital were unsuccessful. When he arrived at the institution, he was confirmed dead.
The DCI national forensic laboratory detectives photographed the scene and retrieved the murder weapon for further analysis.
Detectives are presently interrogating other witnesses in an attempt to put together the circumstances leading up to the murder.
