Rufftone, a city gospel musician and Nairobi senatorial hopeful, claimed that his brother and fellow gospel artist Daddy Owen nearly assaulted him with a machete during a political disagreement.
Owen was a fervent supporter of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) when he was pro-PNU, according to Roy Smith Mwatia.
While criticizing ODM of being a violent party in general, the ‘Mwikulu’ musician said that the incident was a major factor in his decision to run for Senate in August with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
“In 2007 I remember very boldly my blood brother Daddy Owen was for ODM and I was for PNU and when we disagreed in the morning,” Rufftone told NTV on Tuesday.
He went on to say that politics should be about ideological convictions and that people should be tolerant of opposing viewpoints.
“I tend to believe that politics is about ideals, and if we disagree politically, you don’t have to show it by verbally or physically hurting me,” he continued.
In November, Rufftone launched his candidacy for the Nairobi Senate seat.
“I’m revealing this for the first time in reference to Rufftone’s future plans. You’re looking at the upcoming Senator for Nairobi.
