RUIRU: Detectives Nab Suspected Child Traffickers in Nyeri

Detectives have rescued a 3-year-old boy who was abducted from his home in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

Two male suspects are in custody following the swift and coordinated pursuit.

The boy’s disappearance had been reported at Ruiru Police Station by his distraught parents, prompting officers to launch a rigorous manhunt that stretched across the Central and Western regions of Kenya.

Acting on intelligence, investigators stormed a residence in Tetu, Nyeri County, where they found the child in the company of two men — George Maina, the homeowner, and Samuel Juma, believed to be the individual who snatched the child from his Ruiru home.

The minor was immediately rescued and placed under medical observation at a local hospital, where he is receiving care ahead of an emotional reunion with his family.

Authorities have identified the suspects as part of a growing web of child trafficking networks that have rocked the country in recent months. The Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit has vowed to intensify crackdowns amid a spike in cases of missing children, calling the trend “deeply alarming.”
