Russia Launches Another Wave of Deadly Strikes on Ukraine

Russia has unleashed a new wave of deadly strikes across Ukraine, just a day after one of its largest air assaults of the war.

In the central city of Kryvyi Rih, a hotel was struck by a ballistic missile late on Monday, killing two people and injuring several others.

The city, home to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, was rocked by the attack, with two people reported missing.

In the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, drone strikes claimed the lives of two more individuals and left four others wounded, according to regional administration head Ivan Fedorov.

Explosions were also reported in Kyiv, Sumy, Khmelnytsky, and Mykolayiv regions, as Russian forces launched 10 missiles and 81 drones overnight.

Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted five hypersonic missiles and 60 drones.

However, the widespread attacks caused significant damage to power infrastructure, leading to blackouts and disruptions to water supplies in multiple cities.

U.S. President Joe Biden condemned the strikes as “outrageous,” pledging continued support for Ukraine’s energy grid. UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy also denounced Russia’s “cowardly missile and drone attacks on civilian infrastructure.”

The latest assaults are viewed as Moscow’s attempt to regain control in the conflict following Ukraine’s recent territorial gains in Russia’s Kursk region.
