Ruth Kalundu’s suspension as deputy CEO of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has been stayed by the Employment and Labor Relations Court.
The court presided over by Justice Jacob Gakeri ordered Kalundu to continue working for the electoral body while the case is being heard and decided.
On Tuesday, September 20, The Star was informed that Kalundu had been arrested.
She was fired on Tuesday, according to an insider who requested anonymity because he is not authorized to speak on behalf of the electoral agency but was aware of the commission’s decision.
She was criticized for her disobedience and for assisting the four commissioners who objected to the official declaration of the presidential results, calling them “opaque.”
She was sent home because she didn’t adequately respond to the CEO of the Commission Hussein Marjan’s show cause letter.
To present their petition for Kalundu’s interdiction, five Azimio MPs marched their supporters to Anniversary Towers on Monday under the leadership of Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang.
The other members were Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, Peter Orero (Kibra), Amos Mwago (Starehe), George Aladwa (Makadara), Mark Mwenje (Embakasi West), and Amos Mwago (Starehe).
