President William Ruto has appointed Dr. Olang’o Onudi to lead the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) board.
In a gazette notice dated November 7, 2025, the Head of State appointed Dr. Onudi as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the hospital’s board for a three-year term, effective from November 7, 2025.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 7 (1) (a) of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital Order, 2025, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Olang’o Onudi (Dr.) to be the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 7th November, 2025,” the gazette notice read.
The same gazette edition featured several other significant appointments in the education sector, made by Cabinet Secretary for Education Julius Migos Ogamba.
CS Ogamba appointed Dr. Charles Momanyi and Irene Chebet Chesire as Members of the Council of Alupe University for a three-year term, effective from November 7, 2025.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 36 (1) of the Universities Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Education appoints under paragraph (d) Charles Momanyi (Dr), Irene Chebet Chesire, to be Members of the Council of the Alupe University, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 7th November, 2025,” the notice stated.
The Education CS appointed Judah Ochieng Abekah (Eng.) as Chairperson of the Kisumu National Polytechnic Council. Members appointed include Ismael Noo, Ruth Mounde, Dancun Odhiambo Oginga, and Meissy Naeku Janet, all for a three-year term effective November 7, 2025.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 (1) of the Kisumu National Polytechnic Order, the Cabinet Secretary for Education appoints under paragraph (a) Judah Ochieng Abekah (Eng.) — Chairperson, under paragraph (d) Ismael Noo – Member, Ruth Mounde – Member, Dancun Odhiambo Oginga – Member, Meissy Naeku Janet – Member, to be the Chairperson and Members of the Kisumu National Polytechnic Council, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 7th November, 2025,” the gazette notice read.
CS Ogamba re-appointed Augusta N. Abate as Chairperson of the Tom Mboya University Council, with Lily C. Koech serving as a Member. Their appointments are for a three-year period, also effective from November 7, 2025.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 36 (1) of the Universities Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Education re-appoints under paragraph (a) Augusta N. Abate – Chairperson, under paragraph (d) Lily C. Koech – Member, as the Non-Executive Chairperson and Member of the Council of the Tom Mboya University, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 7th November, 2025,” the notice stated.
