On Friday, President William Ruto reaffirmed his support for former Gender and Culture Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa, despite her exclusion from his recent cabinet appointments.

Speaking to residents of Kilifi County, Ruto lauded Jumwa as a valued ally and underscored her significant contributions to his administration.

“I will not leave Aisha Jumwa behind; she is my sister and a capable leader. We will continue to work together,” Ruto declared.

He revealed plans for Jumwa to collaborate with newly appointed cabinet secretaries from the coastal region, including Hassan Ali Joho, whom Ruto has nominated for a government position.

Jumwa, addressing the same rally, expressed gratitude for Ruto’s support and affirmed her commitment to his leadership.

“I am thankful for the chance to serve and support President Ruto. I trust his vision,” Jumwa said. She also welcomed Joho’s nomination and urged unity in supporting the President’s administration.

The president’s remarks followed protests in Kilifi County demanding Jumwa’s reinstatement.

Demonstrators criticized Ruto for not recognizing their support and urged him to reconsider.

“We urge the President to hear our cries and appoint Aisha Jumwa to a government post,” one protester stated.
