Ruto Cabinet Donates Salaries To Drought-Stricken Kenyans

President William Ruto’s Cabinet members have unanimously agreed to forfeit one month’s salary as a contribution to the country’s drought mitigation efforts.

“In solidarity with all Kenyans affected by the ongoing drought, the meeting resolved that all Members will forgo one-month salary as their individual and collective contribution towards the ongoing State interventions that support all the Kenyans affected by the drought.” the statement read.

This was announced on Tuesday, after President Ruto presided over the third Cabinet meeting at State House in Nairobi, which discussed a variety of policy issues, including an assessment of the effectiveness of drought-relief efforts.

According to a statement distributed to newsrooms, the Cabinet meeting praised the work of the recently formed National Drought Response Steering Committee, chaired by Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa, in mobilizing resources to confront the problem.
