Unionist Francis Atwoli is under fire over his remarks towards the Deputy President William Ruto.
The Central Organization of Trade Union (COTU) boss spoke at the unveiling of the Universal Health Care program, attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Atwoli clapped back at DP Ruto after he ‘dragged’ the COTU boss’ wife into his political rallies.
He castigated the deputy president’s stab at the presidentcy, saying his was a lost cause and he’d better prepare for a loss.
“I told him he can never be president… In fact people living near his residences will need to cut the trees because he (Ruto) will kill himself.”
In response to the accusation, DP Ruto has hit out claiming the leader was making humour with sensitive topics such as suicide.
In a heavily worded document delivered by Hussein Mohammed, the Communications manager at DP Ruto’s campaign, Ruto team expressed their anger towards Atwoli.
“The remarks by their *ancient campaign expert’ Francis Atwoli, are completely unnecessary and go against the tenets of democracy. For Kenyans inflicted with violence and death including in the context of elections, this is not a laughing matter.” the statement read.
Nandi senator Aaron Cheruiyot urged politicians to respect mothers when airing their political views.
“All mothers deserve our respect. Moreso, the elderly, gracious & pious Mama Sarah who gave birth to a great son of Kenya, the 2nd in command of the republic. That orangutan called Atwoli & those that give him the platform to insult need to be put on notice.”
