Ruto Criticizes Government over arrests of his allies

Deputy President William Ruto has come out to condemn the state for what he termed as unfair targetting of leaders associating with him. – By Gerald Gekara.

Ruto cited the recent happenings in Kisii, where Deputy Governor Joash Maangi and South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro were arrested, asking what he did wrong.

“Since when did it become a crime to be friends with the Deputy President who is a friend of the President and supported him in four elections?” posed Dr Ruto.

He termed the arrests and intimidation by independent institutions as outdated intimidation practices that will not help Kenyans.

“We should stop using the police to influence politics and allow politicians to politick. Kenya is beyond the politics of threats and intimidation,” Ruto added.

Ruto was speaking while commissioning a Municipal Market in Kabarnet town.

The deputy president also issued title deeds to respective land owners in Kocholwa before proceeding to empower bodaboda operators at Iten in Elgeyo Marakwet.
