Dp Ruto has received the presidential candidate certificate to vie for the 2022 presidential election. “I am delighted this morning to receive the certificate that will allow Kenya Kwanza and myself to participate with my very able deputy in this year’s General Election,” said Dp Ruto.

In his acceptance speech, the deputy president asked the IEBC to oversee credible, free, fair, democratic, and verifiable polls in the August 9 General Election.

Ruto reiterated his request for fair media coverage in the run-up to the August polls, naming Citizen TV, Inooro, Kameme, and daily Nation among the media houses he accused of bias in political news coverage.

The deputy president said that he takes no offense to the said media houses taking sides but he requested them to exercise prudence and come out publicly that they have their own presidential candidate and that their coverage is affiliated with certain political parties.

Also cleared is the DP’s running mate Rigathi Gachagua, who is the outgoing Member of Parliament of Mathira Constituency.
