Ruto Government ‘Too Focused on Development to Engage in Political Noise

The Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes, Geoffrey Ruku, has defended President William Ruto’s administration, insisting it remains steadfast on delivering its development agenda despite mounting political criticism.

Speaking during a Development Day at Gatunga Boys Secondary School in Tharaka Nithi County, Ruku said the Kenya Kwanza government would not be distracted by what he described as “busybodies and empty rhetoric.”

“The President is too focused on driving development to waste time responding to political noise,” he told the gathering. “Our mission is to fulfil the promises made to Kenyans, not to be sidetracked by non-constructive criticism.”

Among the projects singled out was the long-awaited Ciakariga–Irundini road, which the CS confirmed will finally break ground. He added that all stalled development projects in Tharaka Nithi and other regions would be revived under Ruto’s leadership.

Ruku further revealed that both President Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki are set to tour the Mt Kenya East region in the coming weeks. Their visit, he said, will focus on commissioning new projects and fast-tracking those that have lagged.

“This government is committed to ensuring that no region is left behind,” he said. “The people of Tharaka Nithi can expect more investments and improved infrastructure.”

The CS praised residents for their support of the administration and assured them that national resources and political goodwill are aligned to drive transformative development.

The remarks come amid intensifying political battles in Nairobi, where critics have accused the government of prioritising politics over service delivery.
