Ruto Hosts Billionaire Bill Gates At State House

President William Ruto on Wednesday, November 16, hosted American businessman Bill Gates for talks at State House in Nairobi.

In a subsequent briefing following the meeting, President Ruto lauded the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, co-chaired by the billionaire Microsoft owner, for its assistance to Kenya in areas such as healthcare and agriculture.

“Hosted the co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates at State House, Nairobi. We appreciate the support the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation continues to extend to Kenya in realising our development goals, especially in the areas of healthcare, agriculture and ICT sectors,” President Ruto wrote.

The Head of State added that they will continue to collaborate towards the realisation of food security and universal health coverage in the country.

Bill Gates arrived in Kenya on Tuesday for a series of engagements, beginning with a meeting with Governor Mutula Kilonzo in Makueni County.

He visited the Makueni Mother and Child Hospital, then the Kathonzweni Level 3 Hospital, where he met with medical staff and community health volunteers.

Gates is scheduled to speak on Thursday, November 17, about Innovating for Food Security and Climate Change in Africa.
